Al Ahly SC is set to make another appearance in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 after winning the CAF Champions League in 2021, 2023, and 2024. The team is placed in Group A alongside Inter Miami, Porto, and Palmeiras in the newly expanded 32-team format.

The new format features 8 groups of four teams each, with the top two advancing to the Round of 16, where a single-elimination knockout phase will begin. Notably, there will be no third-place match in this edition.

Al Ahly SC in the FIFA Club World Cup

Al Ahly SC will be participating in the FIFA Club World Cup for the tenth time in 2025. The Egyptian giants have made 9 previous appearances in the tournament.

Their first participation was in 2005 in Japan, where they lost both matches—to Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia) and Sydney FC (Australia)—finishing in last place.

In 2006, Al Ahly returned and had a more successful run. They beat Auckland City 2-0, lost to Internacional (Brazil) 2-1 in the semifinals, and won the third-place match against Club América 2-1, earning their first bronze medal.

The third appearance came in 2008, where Al Ahly finished sixth after losing to Pachuca (Mexico) 4-2 and Adelaide United 1-0.

In 2012, the Red Devils finished fourth. They defeated Sanfrecce Hiroshima (Japan) 2-1, lost to Corinthians (Brazil) 1-0 in the semifinals, and were defeated by Monterrey (Mexico) 2-0 in the third-place match.

The 2013 edition in Morocco saw a disappointing campaign, with Al Ahly finishing last after defeats to Guangzhou Evergrande (2-0) and Monterrey (5-1).

In 2020, the club returned to earn a bronze medal by beating Palmeiras in the third-place match after a strong campaign.

Al Ahly maintained their high level in 2021, again finishing third. In 2022, they reached the semifinals but lost to Real Madrid and then to Flamengo, finishing fourth.

In the 2023 edition, they beat Al-Ittihad, lost to Fluminense in the semis, and secured their third bronze medal by defeating Urawa Red Diamonds.
